Ebe Oke soothes the winter

The first thing I noticed about Ebe Oke was his strikingly elegant appearance (images by Rafael Perez Evans). His photos have the quality one would obtain if their boyfriend or girlfriend was a photographer and considered him his ‘muse,’ but not in that annoying sexual way people sometimes force on the viewer – it’s more of a genuine thoughtfulness that translates into into the visual realm, and upon listening, his music followed suit. Covering ‘The Mysteries of Love’ by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti (which has also been performed by the similar Antony and the Johnsons), he fulfills more of the desire for sleepy, pretty music (a la Beach House, Grizzly Bear and Chris Garneau). His voice haunting and his chords minimal yet calculated, he could serve as a good soundtrack for curling up in your bed and waiting for the cold to end. Continue reading
