Yeah yeah yeah the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s are back with their new album It’s Blitz and I’m guilty of being excited… I fucking love the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and whenever people said they’re old news and l shouldn’t get into hearing them at four am when I’m coked out of my mind, I just ignore them. Recently they put out a new video for their song “Zero”. Check it out:
I’m personally interested in this video because I was pretty wasted the night they were filming the video on Polk St. I walked out of the Gangway for a cigarette and saw the tour band and a bunch of film crew types working on the corner. Quickly my friend and realized it was the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s and that they were inside the tour van. So I looked at my friend and we decided to go say hi (we were really drunk and feeling chatty)… I opened the door and a security guard stood up inside and yelled for me to get the fuck away. I left immediately, then he came outside and started yelling that I tried to punch him. The bar tender started laughing and whisked us back inside to avoid conflict.
Enjoy the video. Personally, I think it’s ok. It seems really low budget for one of the hippest bands of the begining of a new century. The part at the end when Karen O is dancing in the liquor store and the lights are flashing on and off seemed really tacky. But maybe the low budget and rushed editing quality the film has are intentional; maybe the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s are just trying to leave room for other bands to do something cool and rule the airwaves. Or maybe they just blew their minds, or don’t care about video media, whatever, the song is good and I’m excited to get my hands on the whole album.
